It isn't often that a dog outshines his master - especially when the master is a celebrity in his own right. Yes this was precisely the situation with
Christopher Richard (Rick) Stein and his
Jack Russel Terrier Chalky.
Rick was a famous chef and TV personality, who had Chalky as part of his show. Due to his hilarious antics, Chalky eventually arrived at a place in the public's heart that even his master could not reach. When Chalky died, a motion was tabled in parliament honoring his death.
Jack Russell Terriers are extremely intelligent due to the important role they play in hunting where they are required to hold quarry down in it's hole until it can be excavated. This also explains the fact that they are extremely vocal.
It is commonly accepted that Jack Russells need adequate stimulation in order to be mentally happy. Without this, they can become destructive.
Jack Russell Terriers are also extremely long lived. This is due to careful breeding. Indeed, Chalky - the dog we met at the beginning of this article was almost 18 years of age when he passed away! He continued filming with his owner till the last month of his death.

Rudolph Valentino known as the
"Latin Lover" at one time was one of the most famous stars in the world. He projected an image of extreme femininity and this both drove women wild, as well as men who thought he was promoting femininity in men!
But for a man who was feminine, he sure had a huge dog. He had
Irish Wolfhound called
Centaur Pendragon.
Irish Wolfhounds are sight dogs that were used in the past for Wolf hunting. Thus the name.
They are the tallest dog breed in the world.
However paradoxically, they are an extremely gentle breed. Though one can forgive an intruder for being afraid of their size, they are apt to welcome anyone into their home with open paws as a friend! This gentle nature makes them ideal for children and for the family, though they're not recommended for those who have no prior experience with dogs.
At one point in time, only royalty could have the privilege of owning an Irish Wolfhound, and this made them almost extinct at a certain point in time. However, they have been rebred and are known as "
Gentle Giants."

The former host of VH1's top 20 Video countdown is now a comedian! And she has the most adorable
Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie)! His name is Dignan. In the picture below, you can see that Alison has cut his hair short. She's mentioned that on her blog, as well as the fact that he's not a "Teacup" Yorkie.
Yorkshire Terriers are plucky dogs who retain their courage and self esteem in spite of the fact that they can have a small size. The breeding standards don't mention ideal height for the Yorkie, and so they can be extremely small, or sort of medium sized like Alison's.
Yorkshire Terriers are also more intelligent than most other dogs. They have a fantastic ability to remember commands and understand what they person is saying. As such, they are excellent candidates for jobs where such skills are required.
The tails of Yorkies are traditionally docked. However, there have been growing movements to stop this practice. It depends on the state you live in as well as the preference of the individual owner.

We all know
Denise Richards as the
"Bond Girl" in
"The World is not enough". She may not want to be remembered for that as she got the dubious award for the worst Bond Girl of all time!
Nonetheless, she has been consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful women in the world and she's chosen a French Bulldog to keep her company. His name is Hunk.
French Bulldogs are one of the best known apartment dogs. In fact, their flat nose, and body shape prevent them from effectively regulating their temperature outdoors. In spite of this, they are considered to be one of the healthiest Bull Breeds.
They are well known for their easy going ways and make ideal companions. Historically, though the breed has a French Prefix, they were mostly developed in the US and Britain. A common name for the breed is Frenchie!

Elizabeth Taylor was the last of the Actresses in the Golden Age of Hollywood. At one point of time, she was also considered to be the most beautiful woman on Earth. Indeed, her appearance in Cleopatra is legendary.
When her dog Sugar died in 2005, Taylor adopeted Daisy - a
Maltese. They are an excellent breed for old people, as they are specially bred to be companions. The fact that it seems unaware of it's small size makes them great for socializing with other dogs and even (surprise surprise!) cats.
Unlike most dogs, they do not need much outdoor exercise and do very well in an apartment. They are therefore one of the most suitable breeds for apartment dwellers. They also lack an undercoat which reduces shedding to a minimum with proper care.
They are also known for their screaming pitch when alerting their owners to intruders. Legend has it that the Romans used them along with Rottweilers to alert the camp of the enemy presence at night.

The Osbournes" which is about her father and his family. The series was a reality show documenting her life. She was show some time ago carrying a mixed breed dog called a "
puggle", but since then carries around a
Shiba Inu - a dog from Japan.
She has earned some criticism for her inability to keep her dogs properly and changing them regularly.
According to the Japanese, the Shiba Inu is very light on it's feet and extremely "artless". They are very clean dogs that resemble a cat in their movements of licking their paws. They will also try and keep their fur clean and therefore are an easy dog to housetrain requiring a minimal amount of supervision.
The Shiba Inu is also known for it's high pitched scream when it's happy or upset. It is one of the oldest dog breeds known to man.

Kylie Minogue is well known as a Pop Star and her unique style of stage entertainment. Most people also know that the Australian Star overcame a battle with breast cancer. It was during the treatment, that the star says she became very close to her ex boyfriend's
Rhodesian Ridgeback - Sheba.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks are extremely loyal to their master and though they are not aggressive, they don't get friendly with strangers either. Most trainers know however that they don't respond well to rough treatement and discipline. Perhaps they have a soft side after all!
Interestingly, the dog which hails from southern Africa was used to keep
lions occupied while they bought time for their master to arrive and kill it. For this reason, they are also called the African Lion Hound.
Due to the varied abilities of the amazing dog, there has been considerable controversy as to how to classify it, since it performs many functions of the hunting dog very well.

The "The O.C" start
Rachel Bilson is well known for her role as "Summer Roberts". Well known among the Teenage Populice, she won the award from
"Choice Hottie".
Her fiancee
Adam Brody who was also her co-star gave her a
PitBull for her birthday. The two of them grew so attached to it, that they now share custody over "Penny" even though they are no longer together.
Contrary to popular perception, Pit Bills feel pain just like any other dog. Breeders have tried to make the dog ignore pain or discomfort in order to get the job done, and this is the reason why some people think they feel no pain.
They don't "Lock their Jaws" either.
