PALS
You see us every morning,
A common pair are we,
Each on a leash's ending
My little dog and me.
We amble village byways
In bright or dismal weather;
You may not think there's much in that,
But we have fun together.
No many-stranded cable
Could bear the jokes that pass
Between my little comrade
And me -- my! how we sass!
But how we give assurance
That we don't really mean it!
(A dog-and-man companionship
Is balm to him who's seen it.)
He greets his dog friends gayly,
While I to neighbors speak;
He sometimes finds a treasure --
A bone that's lost its meat!
He talks with dogs or children,
While I swap views with master . . .
I had this thought the other day,
While visiting with Pastor.
"When dog and I have rambled on
Beyond this mundane scope,
And seen the Golden Gateway,
(From the inside, we hope!)
We won't pause on the highway
Made smooth for feet more sainted,
But wander down some quiet land,
And start to get acquainted.
We hope there'll be a hydrant,
A friendly tree or two,
Some drying leaves to shuffle,
A field to wander through.
We'll glory in our freedom,
And need no leash of leather;
It really will be Heaven, Lord,
As long as we're together."

5) The Largest Irish Wolfhound:
This week's featured largest dog is an Irish Wolfhound again - just like last week. Again, I have a feeling that this photo is real and the photographer picked a very good angle, which makes the dogs look larger. The dogs are in front of the camera while the little old lady sits on the couch in the background as a comparison.

To control this, try cordoning off an area for your dog where you can leave her when you go out. Fill this area with fresh dirt, so she can dig all she wants without spoiling the rest of the lawn. You can put cement blocks around the area to ensure that she doesn't get out.
Over time, she will come to understand that that area is hers and she can dig to her heart's content.
After all, they're family right?

4) The Largest Irish Wolfhound:
This week our featured Largest Dog in the world is an Irish Wolfhound. Guess what?! I am sure this photo is not fake and shows the actual size of the dog. Although, I must admit that the photographer did a very good job to make it look bigger than it is. There is one thing we cannot be sure though! Is it really the largest dog in the world??? Hard to tell... probably not but it does look huge!
Many people falsely believe that the largest breed in the world is the Great Dane (height: 30-34 inches or 76-86 cm). While, Great Danes are called the King of All Dog Breeds they are not as tall as the Irish Wolfhounds (height: 28-35 inches or 71-90 cm). The two breeds are very similar in size but in average, Irish Wolfhounds are larger.
Don't forget to check back next week!

Crafted Dog Lamps
This dog has his tail bent in two places, and has ears that stick out, giving the impression of motion.

Be wary of how you bring up your dog....he might reveal things you don't want others to find out about!
LOST DOG
I saw a little dog today,
And oh, that dog was lost;
He risked his anguished puppy life
With every street he crossed.
He shrank away from outstretched hands,
He winced at every hail --
Against the city's bigness he
Looked very small and frail.
Distrust lay in his tortured eyes,
His body shook with fright;
(I wondered when he'd eaten last --
And where he'd slept at night!)
I whistled, and I followed him,
And hoped that he might guess
That all my soul reached out to him,
And offered friendliness!
So many times I have been lost,
And lonely and afraid!
I followed through the crowded streets,
I followed -- and I prayed.
And then the God of little things,
Who knows when sparrows fall,
Put trust into the puppy's heart
And made him heed my call. . . .

3) The Largest Neapolitan Mastiff:
This is a Neapolitan Mastiff. Without any doubt, this is the worst fake World's Largest Dog Photo I have ever seen. While Neapolitan Mastiff is indeed a large breed and can weight over 200 pounds, they don't grow this big... or if they would they could not walk.
Jake Gyllenhaal who earned worldwide fame in his as Jack Twist in "Brokeback mountain" takes his German Shepherd Dog "Atticus" out for a walk.
German Shepherds are one of the most popular dogs in the world. With their fierce loyalty and intelligence, they are used as police dogs everywhere. The color of Atticus is the most commonly recognized color of GSD's, but they can be other colors. All Black and all white ones are the rarest.

The temperatures can reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit very fast. Your dog can suffer a heat stroke, or even brain damage.
Beautifully Themed Lamp
This lovely dog lamp is ideal for a child's bedroom. The dog can be his guardian angel, looking towards the door.
Priced at $175, it's a solid piece of work that can add character to the house.

It's the dog doctor that really gets me! Imagine him with the chart - 3 right. That means 15/20 smell!
I saw him coming up the street,
So spent and weary that his feet
Seemed like two heavy weights of lead;
Ah, he had known so hard a day,
Small wonder that he looked that way,
And slouched along with drooping head!
Then, suddenly, with frantic shout,
A little yellow dog rushed out
A yard, to greet the tired man;
He licked his hands, he kissed his face,
Then dashed ahead in eager race,
Then back again he gaily ran!
The tired worker laughed aloud,
Straightened his shoulders; through the crowd
Pressed on; his feet seemed to take wings
So fast he walked as he went up
The street toward home the yellow pup
All joyous leaps and caperings.
O little dog so fond and true,
Much good in life you surely do
When you can make a man so spent
Forget fatigue -- make him so glad
He acts like any madcap lad,
And laughs aloud with merriment!

2) The Largest Boerboel:
This South African Beast looks huge indeed. I am only guessing it is a Boerboel and I am also guessing... it is fake too! Males are 25-28 inches (64-70 cm.). Females are 23-25.5 inches (59-65 cm.). They are known to have huge heads... but this one or enormous!
She even lifts her head at the high notes....
Labradors are one of my favorite dogs. Big and strong, and yet with a nature that wouldn't hurt a fly. To my mind, they symbolize the doggy nature better than any other breed. Good choice Anne!

Make sure that your dog understands that no matter how hard he pulls, there's no going any faster than you're currently going, and so he might as well go at your pace.
However, if you've gotten him used to pulling you around, then you might not be able to convince him that you've changed! Ensure that your dog learns from the very beginning that going for a walk is a structured act with rules that are not to be broken.
If the official figures are to be believed, the total amount of dog poop that was deposited on the streets before that was 40 MILLION POUNDS per year! I wonder how they managed before the law.

Here is one of her paintings which she made in 2002. Three Scottish Terriers, with a passion for shoes! The painting is Ink on paper and colored pencil.
Cute Puppy Lamp
There are plenty of dog lamps around the place. But few of them are pure puppy lamps. Even fewer manage to look as cute as the little guy in the picture below. At 17 inches tall, this brown and white ceramic puppy has plenty of 'Aaaawww' factor!
