World's Fastest Dog:

Most domestic dogs are able to reach speeds of 19 miles per hour (30.5kms per hour), when running flat out. The greyhound, the king of canine speedsters, is capable of reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour (64kms per hour)! The greyhound is not only the fastest dog but second only to the Cheetah as the world's fastest animal. The longest jump was also by a greyhound named Bang. He jumped 30 feet (9.14 meters) while chasing a hare at Brecon Lodge, Glouchestershire, England in 1849. He cleared a 4 foot 6 inch ( 1.37 meters ) tall gate and landed on a hard road, damaging his pastern bone.

The pronghorn antelope is probably the second fastest land animal after the cheetah and a number of other members of the deer family are considerably faster than greyhounds (some are virtually as fast as the cheetah chasing them).

Even the sailfish (yes, a fish) is a lot faster than a greyhound.

Most "normal" (dogs, labradors, alsatians etc.) comfortably exceed 30 mph in a dash in good conditions.

Simple. If you ever go to a dog-race you will see Greyhounds not fish or labradors. Why? Because they are bred to race. They are fast!

In case you (Ray Dart) may disagree, feel free to type in Greyhound into WikiPedia and make suggestions there too. Also, I think you have misunderstood the article. It isn't about the fastest animal. It is about the fastest dog.

Either way the article above is completely wrong. This is the second gross inaccuracy -

"The greyhound is not only the fastest dog but second only to the Cheetah as the world's fastest animal."

Just complete nonsense!

How can I explain to Ray Dart that Cheetah is not a DOG so it cannot be the fastest dog????
